Hot Trend: Color Blocking

It all started in the 60's with these "Go-Go" dresses that I am sure many of you remember.

Now, in 2011, this trend is making a huge come back! Designers like Roksanda Ilincic, Reed Krakoff, Marcus, Giuseppe Zanotti, Dries Van Noten and many more are featuring colorful get-ups on their runways. While some people believe that this trend never left, it can be said that it was "pushed aside". Most people have been settling for neutrals or blacks because it is considered "more comfortable" and "safe". However, seeing this trend on models has given many people the courage to feature it in their own closet, and stores like H&M, Forever 21 and others are also featuring pieces to achieve the perfect color-block look for the everyday person.

Gossip Girl star Leighton Meester mixes a bright orange trench with a blue cap for her own twist on color-blocking.

Designer Giuseppe Zanotti creates color-block shoes.

Color-block shoes are perfect for people who do not want to dive right into wearing a whole color block outfit. Pairing these shoes with your favorite LBD or a neutral colored dressed will add the perfect pop of color and excitement, especially when paired with some killer accessories in similar colors as your shoes.

Featured on a Street-Style blog, an everyday take on color-blocking. A blue peacoat, orange dress and purple tights and shoes may seem like colors that normally one would not pair together, but they actually make a beautiful outfit that will definitely turn heads and make people think that you just stepped off a runway.
